At long last, the renovation of the Carver Theatre, home to the Alabama Jazz Hall of Fame since 1990, is underway. The project is expected to be completed in time for a Fall 2021 reopening.
The project will include a completely rebuilt, multi-use performance hall with new seating, sound and lighting, and a larger stage to accommodate theatre, dance, and of course, plenty of live jazz.
The Alabama Jazz Hall of Fame also plans to include within the facility a remodeled jazz museum, a hub for a variety of educational programming, and a new home for its newly acquired WAJH-FM “JazzHall Radio,” a 24-hour jazz radio station broadcasting live from the Carver.
